EBV Treatment – Period Problems

Published by Elizabeth at 3:11 am under Natural treatments

Many female Epstein Barr virus patients suffer from dysmenorrhea or period pain every month. The pain can range from mild to debilitating, and can be accompanied by nausea, loose stools, headaches and back and joint pain. Epstein Barr virus or EBV treatment needs to address the hormonal imbalances that can contribute to period problems.

Period pain is primarily due to the effect of hormones called prostaglandins. Prostaglandins trigger the lining of the womb to shed. They cause the menstrual flow to start, which is why the pain and cramping is usually worse at the start of the period. As the prostaglandins taper off, so does the pain.

Apart from triggering the menstrual flow, prostaglandins also increase pain and inflammation throughout the body. If you have pre-existing inflammation from a condition like EBV, then you may find that this inflammation flares up during your period. This can be anywhere in the body – throat, lungs, joints, eyes, skin etc. EBV treatment which aims at providing anti-inflammatory foods like vitamin C, zinc, fish oils, ginger and turmeric can help here.

If you suffer from chronic period pain then good nutrition and a healthy amount of body fat are of utmost importance. Both these factors help in maintaining good hormonal balance, including those of the prostaglandins.

Exercise like gentle walking, yoga, stretching, cycling and swimming during EBV treatment can help alleviate period pain when it occurs. Exercise improves circulation to the uterus and it keeps the pelvis aligned and mobilised. There are a couple of exercises recommend to help alleviate period pain when it strikes. These exercises can be done as often as needed to reduce pain. They are not too strenuous to undertake during EBV treatment.

The first exercise is to lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Ask a friend to hold your knees together whilst you try to push them apart. Do this 3 times before reversing the exercise. This time try and push your knees together whilst your friend holds them apart.

The second exercise is to get on all fours and arch your back upward as hard as you can – like a cat. Then arch your back downward. Repeat exercise at least 3 times.

Seeing a chiropractor or osteopath to help realign your pelvis can also be of benefit in preventing period problems. If you have recurrent headaches or muscle and joint pains then this approach can also be of benefit during your EBV treatment.
