Epstein Barr virus recovery time
Everyone is different in how long they take to fully recover from EBV. For most people the Epstein Barr virus recovery time is a couple of weeks to a month.
For people over the age of 30 or so, the average Epstein Barr virus recovery time can take longer – sometimes up to a month or two. In chronic sufferers or those with underlying health conditions it can take up to to 6 months after the initial infection to completely recover from the virus.
EBV is a latent virus so it can relapse if you push yourself too hard, especially in the early stages. To help your Epstein Barr virus recovery time, make sure you are taking some magnesium and B complex. The vitamin C, zinc and omega 3 fats are also excellent to help your body fight the virus and to reduce inflammation. Following the higher protein diet, resting your body, and doing some liver cleansing will ensure the best recovery possible.
The aim of these therapies is to get you back to your normal functioning self where you do not experience recurrent symptoms. I have had many patients who have been bedridden with chronic EBV but have recovered to the point where they can lead a normal life. Some of these patients still have to watch their lifestyles and eating habits. If they overdo things or have major stress they can get a relapse.
During your Epstein Barr virus recovery time it is normal to have a few good days followed by a bad day or two. If you are prepared for this you can pace yourself and have some strategies in place for when you have a bad day. Examples of things you can do when you are not feeling well include sitting in the sunshine, drinking lots of hot lemon and ginger drinks, making up a big pot of chicken broth, watching a funny video, having an Epsom salt bath and getting lots of sleep.
